One person with passion is better than forty people merely interested.

Well I don't have a check list of dos and don'ts for my life. But I do have few personal guidelines which helped me to get to the point where I'm now. These guidelines suited and helped me and it is not necessary that they should suite you also. Take it as a good reading.
"Whatever you do, do it with passion."
It is very simple. If I don't enjoy doing a work I can't be productive at that work. When I'm not productive I do injustice to that work and when I do a work which I don't enjoy , I do injustice to myself. Try to do everything with full heart. Do it with passion, even if it is a very small activity.
A side note, the greatest finding of my life so far is - "The greatest happiness of life often comes from very small things we do."
"Enjoy life to it's fullest, but don't screw anyone in the process, including yourself."
I have finite amount of time to live my life, and I want to spend it wisely. I don't want to live a miserable life now for a better future. At the same time, I don't want to blow the future by playing around too much now. Trying to find a balance is tricky. Don't let the past bother you either, what is done is done. Go on with life, fix what is wrong if you can.
Life is not fair, but it is unfair to everyone. My happiness is dependent entirely upon my perception of the situation. If I dwell on the bad, or let it upset me then I will be unhappy. I love life and being alive; because even if things go wrong or time are bad, atleast I'm still alive. I can still feel a gentle breeze and watch a sunset. I'm happy with my life and I know it will only get better as long as I enjoy it fully.
The important thing is to be happy most of the time and the key to be happy most of the time is to obey the absolutes.
As we grow older, we will be tempted by the "society" to think in relative terms. "I have a nicer car." "I made more money." or worse "I just have few drinks. I don't take drugs." "I didn't cheat on my taxes as much as my collegue.". I found this as the principle source of unhappiness as we get older. So I try to preserve and obey the absolutes as much as I can.
Not screwing other people's life in the process of me being happy is very important. Personally I don't feel right about many of the moral and social ethics we have established today. Often I find them to be wrong or not suitable for the situation I'm in. So I try to answer these two questions whenever I have to make a decision.
1) Is it good for me? If yes how much?
2) Is it bad for anybody else? If yes how much?
"Don't be afraid of anybody."
My god father who happened to be my english teacher at school, once told this to me. It has more profound meaning than you think.
To be not afraid of a cop, you need to obey the law.
To be not afraid of your teacher, you need to do your homework correctly.
To be not afraid of your manager, you need to finish your work correctly and within the alloted time.
.......
Well you get the picture don't you? If you are perfect in everything you don't need to care a shit about anybody.
